Problems and Choices...
ok heres the deal...
started gettin no post or no vid, got an RMA on my board [msi k7n2 delta] still same situation, got an RMA on the cpu [athlon xp 2600+] same deal, RMA on the board again after a friend of mine from intel said it had to be the board. SO. now i have the new board, same...
so i guess i gotta go get a new board from frys as a tester [heh frys is like a rental store ] so, i know i shouldnt get the same board, but should i just get a cheap one just to check and then possibly have to waste time drivin back or should i get a nice one. i guess either way my test will hep prove whether it is the board or not. but should i also get another cpu just in case? or maybe ram? any suggestions would be helpful. if ya need more info just holler
thax in advance,
carl

Have you tested the RAM? My way of testing memory is pretty simple - I have around 8 computers stacked around my room (which is smaller than my grandmother's bathroom, mind you - I've checked), so one of them is used for testing PC1xx memory. If I need to get the status of some DDR stuff, I wait until my freind is sleeping and I pop it in his comp. |

I resently sent in some ram to corsair, had over 10,000 errors in one pass when running mem test, I should get it back in the next few days. Anyway, you might want to reinstall all your video drivers as well as directX and openGL. Make sure all your drivers are up to date.

Well, if you did a search on the forum, you'll find that this is a very common problem and a lot of things could be wrong.!
So first, did you reset the CMOS on the mobo?
Second, did you test with just the bare components? (i.e. mobo, cpu, ram, and video card?
Third, did you test with the bare components outside the case (to eliminate shorting problems).

Have you tried putting that video card into another system? If you have tried booting with just the memory, mobo, CPU, and video, and it still doesn't boot, then something is either misconfigured on the board, or you're having some other sort of issue.
Try pulling just the video card, and see if you get any beeps. If that still yields no results, try pulling one stick of ram at a time, ultil you get beeps. If nothing happens at this point, I'd try a different power supply and see what happens.
If you're booting up with just the memory/CPU/Vid/and mobo, then you can start really narrowing it down. Make sure things like the CMOS clear jumper are in their proper places. Other than that, there's nothing else I can think of.
