Kids window98 upgrade

I have an ld lap top at home and it runs windows 95. I am a school teacher and one of my students gave me windows 98SE and my laptop won't run it. It goes all the way to the end of the sey up and then says I need windows 98 upgrade.Help with any advice

Is this an original disk or a burned copy?

There is really no reason why you can't install 98SE over 95. If it's a Full Version 98SE CD, it shouldn't be telling you that you can only upgrade. I've installed both Upgrades and Full Versions and have NEVER had the Full Version say I had to use Upgrade.

It sounds to me like this is a burned copy and has a few files mixed up. I hope I'm wrong though.

yep i had the same problem with a burned copy and original copy said i already had a windows OS installed to up grade use the upgrade cd when i tried togo from 95 to 98se. Just thought id put in my 2 cents worth.
