XP encription

How do I go about using the encryption tools available using XP?

right click on folder..general tab theres atributes..click advanced and u will find encrypt contents for secure date..select it..click ok..im not sure if that will work on xp home.. some1 else might know

yes I think it is for Xp Home. One thing about it..which I am not totally sure of the terminology used....but you will have some sort of "key" which needs to be backed up on a burned cd and kept spmewhere safe....otherwise there are certain circumstances where even you could not get your own data.

And another thing about encryption is that it is basically invisible....in other words, if you encrypt a folder..then u click on it...it just opens up like a regular folder....the encryption isnt seen by the user who encrypts it....but if someone else clicks on it..I suppose they either see garbled junk or nothing at all.


Also encrption and compression cant be used at the same time on a file or folder......and you must have NTFS as your file system....if you used fat32 to build windows then encryption and/or compression wont work.
