Auditing another PC

I have a question about auditing another PC in my house.

I have a Router (SMC Barricade) and 2 computers are connected on it to share the internet connection. Is there a way that i can see what's happening on the second computer from mine (Win XP Pro) the second one is using Win 98 SE.

Thanks again for your time.

Theres a program which my cad teacher uses called netop school, im not sure of the price but you can see what the other people are doing, take over their screen and controls and lock their computer...its pretty cool you might want to look into that. (what my teacher doesnt know is that i just delete a few files it installs and it doesnt work on my computer anymore...lol)...anyway that seems to work pretty good GL

I'm sure VNC could work for your purposes. You'll have to garner more information from others on the board though, because I have limited experience with the program.

Go to http://www.realvnc.com and download the "Server and viewer" package suitable for both computer's OSes. Then install and make sure while installing that you check the boxes that talk about 'Starting VNC as a service' etc.

Once installed, it will pop up with the control panel box so that you can change the password, and other settings if you so desire.

Complete the install on both computers.

Then, all you have to do is from your computer, type in the IP (or hostname) of the computer that you are wanting to connect to, and hit enter, and type in the password that you set and voila! you can see, and control the other computer.

If you know what remote desktop connection or GoToMyPC.com is like. This is similar. It's just like you're sitting at that computer using it's keyboard and mouse. Even though there's minimal lag, it's still not enough to watch video or play games though.

HTH,

Dave

Thanks all for the replies,

What i'm looking for is a software or a way that i can have a log of what's happening with the other computer.

Usually the other computer is working when i'm sleeping....if you know what i mean so i would like to have a log sent to my computer or something similar.

I'm wondering if there's any configuration that i can use from my XP > Router > second computer that can allow me to monitor what's happening. I'm suspecting something strange happening so i would like to have some information from the computer that work so hard when i'm dreaming

Thanks again for your time

here's one that I have used (although Enterprise version). It costs $30 after initial 30days. It records the information you described... http://www.newfreeware.com/utils/1185/
