Well, as far as overclocking goes, if you have decent cooling, you might be able to get the 2400+ to a 166MHz FSB, but it would probably take some good stuff to get it to a 400MHz FSB. Unless you can play with the multiplier, then that's what I'd do.
Other than that, you already have a more than capable chip, memory, mobo, and a decent video card. You might have to upgrade the video in another 2 years, or sooner, depending on how often you look at new games, and how fast they come along as far as system requirements go. I definately agree that a larger hard drive would be on my list of items to look for in the future. I'd keep an eye on in store deals or rebates at your local chain-stores for a good deal, and pick one up when a great deal comes along.
As for SATA being faster right now, as long as the HDD is still on the PCI bus, it's not going to get much faster as far as total speeds attainable, at least not at the densities and RPM's things can take at this moment. PCI-X is on the way, though, and I don't know enough about that, or how far off it is, to recommend paying even a dollar more for SATA than PATA. If you can find one cheaper than a similiar PATA, though, and your motherboard has everything you need to support it, and it'll work with your PSU (I think most of the ones out now have a standard molex connector as well as the 3.3V flat connector). Other than that, don't expect much more out of it.
