Need help with vid card problem

My friend messed with my computer and disable the video card in the properties settings, so now i my computer still works except for the fact that I can't see anything cause the its all black. Is their a way to fix this without the need to reinstall my windows xp. If not is their also a way to reinstall xp without have my harddrive reformated????

Have another video card to plop in and change the setting back? I'm assuming he disabled only that specific video card you had in.

thnx for the info but i don't think any of my friends would lend me their vid card, so is their any other way to get aroud the problem????

umm...is it totally disabled? Like can u see the post screen? Also what bios do u have? If he disabled it in the BIOS and u have the bios I have then I can give u like instructions how to enable it such as....hit delete wait a sec, go down 2x's then hit enter etc.

When I start my computer it loads fine but when its on the part where it asks you for your pasword its this part where its all black to this point on......

By the way im not really a tech person... Well I really don't have a clue what my bios is but I'll check it when I get home, Ummm where exaclty would my bios be located at?????

Well all my friend told me is that he only disable the adapter type(vid card) on the display properties.

Ok you get to your bios by hitting usually F2 or Delete (usually) on post and it will get you into your bios but from the sound of it is dealing with windows, have you tried booting to safe mode? If u can (press F8) get to screen for the option and select it then it will boot to windows. If this works then go to my computer, then right-click and click properties, Hardware, Device Manager, then if anything has a yellow x or red x next to it click on it and click enable. If that will work then restart your computer in normal mode and see if it works. GL

Yeah I have already tried getting into safe mode but my computer just freezes

Ok I really don't know what is wrong here...I would think that it would have some safe thing so that u can't just disable your video card. I will try to find something about it but you may have to put that HD in another computer, pull the files you need then reinstall windows....I will look into this more for ya

Yah go to a friends house with your Hard Drive, install it and make it a slave drive, burn all the necessary files that u want to keep onto a cd and then format the drive and re-install windows xp...
