what speed/brand RAM to buy...

gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394 Motherboard
amd athlon 2500+ barton processor
Sapphire Radeon 9800 pro Video Card
IDE 7200 RPM hard drives WD (120, 160)

I didnt have enough money from ram last check, so i just used a PC2100 256 stick... I am looking to get 2 512 sticks.. I was looking at 3200 speed.. I will mainly use the computer for gaming and am looking for anytthing that'll increase my frame rate/ load times. Any suggestions on what brand ram, or does anybody have any experience with this board?

yeah, my board doesnt support 3500 speeds anyway... is 3200 a lot better than 2700?... im guessing i should steer clear of any of the 'value ram' models?

You can't really go wrong with Corsair XMS Series, Mushkin, or even Kingston. I have the Kngston HyperX PC3000 and I`m running it at 2-2-2-6.

Unless you plan on OCing, you can get by with PC2700 as that runs at the ssame FSB as your chip. As far as brands go I use Crucial with good results.

the fsb of 333mhz is the same as the speed of pc2700 memory so you will need that

many people up the fsb to 400 as this cpu is very easy to overclock so you may want to go with pc3200

if you want to overclock over 400fsb it you can overclock the ram as well but many people don't since the cpu can overclock higher than ram usually but you wont need anyting higher since i doubt you could overclock the cpu higer than the ram if the cpu is already overclocked to the speed of the ram

Most places I know of (NewEgg for example) sell PC3200 at almost the same price as PC2700. Might as well go for the faster one.
