Rookie needs help with RAM

I am pretty new to this and thought that DDR ram was better than RDR ram, I wanted to upgrade from 512 to 1gig , i found out i had RDR ram in my system so I went shopping and it costs almost twice as much as DDR. so here are my questions, Which is better, why does RDR cost more, and should I just sell my 2 sticks of 256 RDR ram and get DDR???? Any help would be appreciated

RDram not RDR but i know what you mean is accually a type of sdram as is ddr but i won't get into that]

it is more expensive since it was not produced in bulk and since it has a low supply the price is higher

the slots are not the same as ddr so you would need a new motherboard and if it is from a large company probobally a new case/PSU so i would just go with the rambus
