Nubie at CD burning needs help

I'm finally burning my first CD ever... LOL yeah yeah yeah.

Anyhow I'm interested in being able to create a bootable CD. Can anyone explain how to do this?
Currently I have XP Pro installed and have used whatever comes with XP to burn some files to a disk, just the drag and drop method. Is this program capable of doing the bootable CD process?

I got a lot to learn about burning I think, youir help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I dont think the intergrated CD Burner with Windows XP is capable of doing what you are asking for. Why dont you try a different program, say Nero? I think its much better (and faster) than burning CD's with the Windows XP integrated one.

Nero 6 offers a nice easy GUI. (general User interface). ITs got everything for newbies! Including bootable cd burn modes. DVD, VCD, SVCD modes. ISO and joilete RAW and Sector +track at once modes. Beutifull proggy. Try the FULL functioning demo to see if you wanna buy for 30 days. The demo now is expired at nero site. So dw it-then roll back your windows date to one month ago! Then it works. I just got me dvd burner and this. Nero says they are uploading another NEW version soon. LOL. Think I'll use this now then when the demo runs out order NEWEST version "retail" fromt hem. Note. ONLY retail nero software available for free upgrades. THe $5 nero copys and the free ones with drive DO NOT upgrade. Just warnign everybody. And free upgrades only apply to same version. Like Version 6xxx up to 6.9 at 7 you need whole new software.

I agree with Xtreeme. Nero 6 is great for beginners. It's got a very user friendly interface and is simple to use.

Here's a link for the demo.

i'm usining xp home and assumimg that the onboard burner is the same with xp pro.........roxio.........right click the file u wanna burn and then click send to "your cd/rw drive"..........easy as fallin off a log.........if it wasn't i would not be able to do it.

that said, i know little ( very very little) about bootable cds but i've just had a look at the link bill posted and it looks to have all the info u need.

good luck

Bootable cd's just need the emergency boot floppy files. Nero puts them in for you. Roxio......eh. I'll bite my tounge. Lets just say that proggy is LESS then a enjoyable experience for me. And it FIGHTS with other burner apps like crazy. Oh and some of the modes will only read on another pc WITH roxio. The packet software for one. (wher eit works like floppy disc). If it does read on others systems it seems to pick up discs waaaaay slow. Like 2 min. LOL. O.k. Im done complaining.
