Anyone know MIDI???

Im trying to figure out which interface for my computer to use---I see a gameport or USB connection (I just need 1:1 and trying to keep it inexpensive) so far ive narrowed it down to a soundcard interface w/cables for under $20 (http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--THKTW12MC1) or the Yamaha UX16 USB for about $40
Both include cables---
Whats the diff? soundcard vs USB? Any?

Got any other suggestions???

I have a firend that has used a gameport adapter with a sampler and an analog synth, in a semi professional studio setup for years. It seems to work great even tho its a on board card. He used an atari before that.

At my old highschool we used the gameport interface without any problems. I don't think you'd notice much of a difference between the USB or Gameport solution. If you find that it seems to be lagging when using the gameport setup, you could always get the USB version which should clear that up. But then again, I've never had any expeirence with the USB solutions.

I ended up getting the USB version made by Yamaha and the Alesis SR16 drum machine---works GREAT!
