? on access point

How many computers can share an access point?

Have 3 wired - 1 wireless and wanting to add a 2nd. wireless.

Does access point software have to be installed on 2nd computer?

Thanks,

Bill

it all depends on the access point, either way access points are designed to handle multiple connections at once

you shouldnt have any problems with 2 wireless.

i believe some can handle up to 250 connections

all you need to load on the 2nd laptop is the drivers for the hardware and the software for the hardware to connect to the acccess point

Some AP's do have some rather low association table handicaps but even those will allow more than you'd ever want to put on one AP, like 32 clients for instance. That would be WAY to many, especially on a .11b AP. Cisco's hardware allows 1024 associations. A ridiculous number of course. Anyway, add as many as you want until you run out of pipe.
