help--going deaf from the noise

msi k7d-l mobo
1800mp cpu
2 slk800a and 2 vantec tornado fans

this thing sounds like an airplane.

can someone recommend something that will keep it cool but make it a little quieter?

please don't recommend watercooling.

robin

Are you overclocking? If not then just downgrade your fans or get a fan controller.

Something a bit quieter than a tornado, perhaps?

i was even thinking of getting 2 of these to replace the heatsinks.
but all i need to do is replace the fans?

which fan can i downgrade to?

The heatsinks that you have now are most likely better than much else you will find for $10.

I will post some links to some fans in a sec.

You should not need any more than this to cool your procesors as long as you have good air flow in your case.

What is your budget? I bought an Antec Sonata case and a Thermaltake Silent Boost heatsink.

Total fans, 1-120mm case fan, 1-80mm temp regulated ps fan, 1-80mm heatsink fan. While it isn't dead silent, it is pretty quiet. I have an AMD 1800+ as well and my current temps are 42 proc, 32 case.

Much better than the box I had before that sounded like it was trying to take off.

Anyone have experience with this acoustipack material? $70 to outfit my sonota with it. I bit dear... but if it gets a rave review I may jump on it.

Right now I'm using a Sonata Case on loan to review, and man is it small! I have the ThermalRight SP97 heatsink (with the heatpipes) and that thing is huge, on top of that, the Sonata case is so small everything is so tight on an Abit AN7 mobo.

need heatsink/fans to fit on a msi k7d dually mobo.

i'll probably keep my heatsink and just change the fans.
