voltage resolution refers too?
The term is related to the use of voltage meters.

just by thinking about the term I guess it defines how precise a certain measurement is.

The more resolution = the more precise measurement.

on a digital volt meter it refers to how many numbers will be displayed on the reading.
as in 12 volts like this

i agree with The_saint and bailey.

you can get a better and more accurate reading by having a higher resolution. in analog meters, resolution is more useful. if you divide the whole into 100 rather than 10, the reading you will get is accurate to the 1/100 place.. that is 0.01.
