Freshly Formatted showing up as Dynamic

I have searched some other threads without success. I mistakenly formatted my old fujitsu drive to Dynamic while using windows xp pro. I then purchased a copy of XP Home. My fujitsu drive shows up as foriegn Dynamic. I took it to a friend who is running XP Pro. We removed my personal pictures which I need to keep. We then re-fromatted the disk regularly as NTFS. I then re-installed the drive in my system again. When I go to Disk Management it shows up as dynamic again.. WHY?? The drive still does not show up in My Computer. I can't convert it to Basic because I will loose my pictures and things. Is there anything I can safely do to save my data and have the drive recognized properly?

Hathor..

First I would have my friend copy all your pictures to CD

Did you update the disk information on your computer?
This is a slave drive right?

To update disk information open Computer Management (Local).
On the Action menu, click Rescan Disks.

You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.
If your disk configuration has changed, but the changes do not appear in Disk Management, use the Rescan Disks command.
When Disk Management rescans disks, it scans all attached disks for disk configuration changes. It also updates information on removable media, CD-ROM drives, basic volumes, file systems, and drive letters.
Rescanning disks can take several minutes, depending on the number of hardware devices installed.

I could not find anything for rescan disks on XP home.. No the computer is not hooked on network and there are no user accounts on the machine. Just the owner/administrator. The drive shows up in disk management but I can't seem to do anything except convert drive to basic.

Right click the disk (In disk management) and revert to basic disc. This will destroy all the data on the disk though. I dont think there's a non destructive way.

If I copy the files on someone's machine running XP Pro and then revert the disk to Basic, put the files back on. Will my XP home read the files ok even if they were once held on a dynamic disk? Are the files the same if they are put on a basic or dynamic disk?

Thanks for the feedback.

The files will be fine, you will still be able to read them if you copy the files to another partiton then back onto the drive again. The actual data is the same no matter where it is held.
