I see on LJ that the lawsuit against AutoZone is based around the System V code. Check it out here. It would seem easy for autozone to avoid system v if they wanted to. My favorite distro uses bsd style inits--very little system v.
Heh, System V code encompasses much more than just the init scripts in linux. The init scripts are System V style init scripts.
