LAN problems

can you put a LAN card on an old 486/slot 3 motherboard? if so how can you do it?

all you need is an old ISA lan card. ISA was the longer brown slot that came out before pci slots.

If you can find a 3Com or an Intel they usually plug and play with no software. I think all ISA is 10 mb.

i believe alot of the 486's could use PCI too.

open the case and right above the brown slots, there should be short white ones

It doesn't happen to have PCI... even though its has several ISA. I'm just playing around with it.... and wanted to see if networking was even an option for it.

Networking is "always" an option. Heck, even our old '8086 PC-XTs were networked, running DOS 3.1... and PCI was about 5 years into the future.
