USB Hub Current Limit Exceeded

When I connect my Muse digital camera to windows 2000 pro usb hub, I get the following error message:

An unknown device has exceeded the current limits of its hub port

Recommendation
Disconnect the device and then click 'Reset' to re-enable the port. If

you click 'close', a reboot will be required to regain the port.

The recommendations does'nt fix the problem. I tried to resolve the error by reinstalling windows without success.

When I install the driver that came with the camera, I get the following:


"The software for this device is now installed, but may not work correctly.
This device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)".

its really a simple thing to correct.
whats happening is the usb controler on the motherboard only has so much power to deliver to the devices, and some devices require more power than the port can supply.

the fix is to use a self powered usb hub connected to the puter only and all the devices connected to the hub.
I have 3 self powered usb hubs connected to my puter and all the devices into the hubs, this way each device will have all the power it needs and no load will be placed on the motherboards supply, and everything will play nicely.
