another barton 2500xp help question thread

VGA ASUS|RADEON R9600XT/TVD/128M 8X
MB NFORCE2 EPOX|8RDA3+
CPU AMD|2500 /333 ATHLON XP BARTON
CPU FAN|AERO FLOW VA4-C7040 VTEC RT
MUSHKIN PC3200

i have my system overclocked to fsb 185 and voltage is 1.616v.

can't seem to get it any further. running any higher just gives me a blue screen or lockup with an error message.

temps seem to be fine. 38 degrees for case and 46 for cpu.

memory timings

frequency--185.5mhz
fsb:dram--1:1
cas latency--2.0 clocks
ras to cas delay--2 clocks
ras precharge--2 clocks
cycle time(tras)--5 clocks

this info from cpu-z

how can i get this to the famous barton 3200?

or have i reached the max that my system will do?

robin

Just try bumping up the core voltage a tad. Not all 2500+'s are created equal, and you might have to overvolt it, maybe more than a tad, in order to get it to run at 2.2GHz. That's the only part of your system I can see being the problem.

Also, what kinda power supply are you running? Just for arguments sake. And, is it warm where you're at?

try skipping a mhz or two...sometimes you will just have a problem on a certian frequency

Try setting memory timing to 7-3-3-2.5 or 8-3-3-3 , I think best is 11-3-3-2.5 .
Barton needs at least 1.7 Vcore to run fast .

good luck .

whoa there

I just stuck it in the case and pumped it up to 11X200=2200. everything says 3200+ when I boot. I left everything else at the default. I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe v2.0 with Corsair 3700 ddr XMS 256X2=512. I did have to move the jumper to enable the 200mhz FSB on the MB.

Hehe i just done a build with a barton 2500+... Currently running at 2Ghz, havent tried for 2.2Ghz yet...

My motherboard (gigabyte 7n400pro2 (rev. 2)) could have a better bios tho... There is nowhere ya can setup the memory timmings etc... Which kinda sucks... Can't even find anywhere to adjust the AGP apeture?!?

Is the stock heatsink good enough for 2.2Ghz???

Go to overclockers.com and see some of the settings on their O/C's. I think, like others have already said, that you will need to increase the votage to get more stability.
