Acoustic Foam

Guys I need a sound damping material (acoustic foam) for my PC!!

I was looking at the AcustiPack but its 80$!

Now.....what can I use as an insulator...? A foam like the one you find inside the package you receive when you order a HDD!

Any ideas......?

You might try a music store like Guitar Center. They should have acoustic foam in various sizes.

I don't know what other places sell it but you could try V-Block: http://www.amkcomputers.bc.ca/amkusa/index.html - then click "PC Cases(61)" and down at the bottom.

I`m trying to look around here but Daytona is really a dead place. Noone knows anything or has anything......! I will try and check out Matressess shops or something like that. I wnet to Home Depot and Lowes, but nothing.

I'm after the charcoal ester foam.

Found the homepage for the makers of V-Blok. It's primarily for car audio but I'm sure it has PC and other audio uses as well. When the Lian-Li case I want comes back in stock in my area (currently back-ordered all over town) I'm gonna get the whole interior V-Blok'd (100% coverage).

There's some stuff called Asaka Pax-Mate that is available at SVC that is more of a flat sheet than a foam, but it does very well.

A cheaper alternative of that type of stuff, directed toward the automotive market, but just as effective on case panels, can be found at Parts Express

BTW, open-cell eggcrate-style "mattress" foam will do you no good, as the open cells do not absorb any energy/sound. You need the closed-cell stuff and, in the kind of thickness you need for it to be effective (say 2") it can cramp your style on thie inside of a case pretty seriously.

Try a computer shop. Ask for the foam from a MoBo or several.
