new built computer, wont boot up

GA-7VT600 motherboard
amd barton 2500+
seriel HDD and dvd+rw and dvd-rm

**edit, UPDATE.... please help

ok i found the problem... i took the mobo out of the case and put it on the static bag, connected the CPU, the CPU fan and the memory stick... I then connect the PSU and the power switch and it starts up with no problem... When i put it back in the case, and attach nothing else, it will not start up... is this because its hitting the metal behind it? i put some of the spacer things behind the motherboard and screwd it in using the copper screws, still wont turn on.... What am i supposed to do?

This may not be your problem but I thought I might share it with you anyway.

I recently built a system; during the process I discovered the motherboard’s built in USB 2.0 plug-ins where nine pin while my new case’s front side USB 2.0 interfaces where five pin.

I got on here, asked some resident geniuses and discovered they would work but only four of the five pins needed to be plugged in. Unsure which of the four plugs went it what pins, I plugged them in and booted, nothing. The system wouldn’t power up, dead; removed them and the system booted fine. Continued to play around with the pin-plug combination until I had the right pattern, however whenever the combination was wrong, it some how prevented the system from powering/booting up.

The probability that this is your problem maybe slim but I thought I’d share my experience and resolution.

Regards,
Zotz Mein

That's for pentium computers, you don't use it. I don't want to make you sound stupid, b/c it's happened to me, but is there a rocker swithc on the back of the psu that's not flipped?

Make sure your CMOS jumper is in the correct position so that it doesn't reset and not power up.

Make sure that your power button lead is in the correct spot.

Finally, make sure all power connectors to your motherboard are connected.

Staying..

Yeah, the IO swithc needs to be down on the I part. You've probably done it, I just have to rule out the easiest things first. The 115 volt is where you want it.

Next thing I'd double check is that you have the plug for the power switch on the right pins.

The CMOS jumper is used to reset the cmos. If you have the manual for the mb, it should sort most of it out.

GL!
