I tried it after i put it together, also i took the cover off and tried it to see if there was a problem with the cover. Still it will not open more than about 1 inch. PLEASE HELP

One thing you may have accidentally hit is a little switch somewhere on the front end of the cd drive. It is a switch that is hit by the tray or one of the gears as the tray is extended or brought back in. In many cd drives, it will look like a small box with two small wires extending out that are only a few millimeters apart. If the two wires are touching, it will make your cd drive extend only a few inches. Sorry I dont have any pictures, my cameras being borrowed by a friend.

Good luck
