Kids Normal temps for a Barton 2800+ ???

My brother just recently upgraded his machine to a Barton 2800+ and it's running quite a bit hotter then his previous chip (an XP 1700+).

Before his hottest temps were 105F (at Full Load) and with his new chip he's running about 120F (again at Full Load). At idle the temps drop to about 114F.

Just curious if this is about normal for this chip? Here's a bit more info on the chip:

AXCA 2800+ 0346

Another question while I'm at it, anyone have good success with overclocking on this particular stepping? If so how far were you able to push it?

Thanks in advance!

Ok cool.

The high 50's?!?!? Wow

Ya I'm used to using Celcius but my bro is used to Farenheit. That's what he gave me and I was too lazy to convert. lol.

Thanks for the reply!

My 2800 maxes out around 50c, granted it's been overclocked (2.4g) but my PC also doubles as an airodynamic proving ground.

My XP3000+ runs at 33C idle, and under full load I come around 37-38C.

But when I clock it up to 2.4Ghz, it'll do 40C idle and about 45-46C full load.

It is btw the 400Mhz version of the XP3000+ And I use a thermalright SLK-900A with AS5 to cool it.

I've got my 2500+ running at 3200+ speed stock voltage. I see 34°C idle and around 38°C load using a Koolance exos. The best part? It's dang near dead silent.
