How to get rid of XP?

I am trying to uninstall Windows XP and format the disk. I have a xp disc (of unknown origin) that will reinstall xp.

The goal is to totally be rid of XP and install Win 98. I cant seem to get to a place to format the disk, or get rid of xp.

The Floppy drive is inaccessible, and system seems to have a raid 2+ on it.

Can any one give me a way to totally clean this system and /or format xp out of here? Raid is not required in new OS.

Thx
Tarp

have you just tried a winME floppy disk from www.bootdisk.com

then just boot to the disk and run fdisk and 'delete non dos partitions'

Unfortunately, The floppy disc drive does not function.

I would like to know how to get rid of xp. Maybe I will just pull the hard disc drive out and replace it.

Perhaps I should ask, how can I get to a place to format a system with xp on it?

Thank anyway.

boot from the windows 98 cd, run with cdrom support for the hell of it and then run fdisk from the dos prompt and delete non dos partition.

or you could just get a floppy drive for about 7 bucks and it would be way cheaper than getting a new hard drive!

Most Windows 98 CDs are not self-booting. Get hold of a Knoppix CD, boot from it and use its partitioning tools to remove the partitions. If it is really RAID, you may have to use the RAID card/chipset's utilities to do it. Which means making your own boot CD (or DL an burn an ISO) with
the RAID tools added to it. Good luck.

I've never used a windows 98 cd that was unbootable, just make sure you set your bios to boot cdrom before hdd-0 and it will boot.

With a 98 cd in it boots, and asks if I want to boot from cd, but the keyboard is unresponsive, and it just keeps bootiing to xp.
I am beginning to think this is a virus or a bootleg copy of xp. Is there no way to uninstall this? How can I get to a c or E drive that will let me FORMAT? I cant find any dos in here. I guess that is what I m used to.

I just want to get this program off the disc .

I am stumped.

I think I need some sleep. Thx people.

What happens if you rightclick the drive from >my computer, and choose >format???

Edit----> (see next post)
Yer right Watch---now that I remember I stuck the drive in a functional system to pull that off---been awhile...
