In need of a Shooter

Hey guys,

Went to an arcade the other day and got hooked on the old school space shooters.

Anyone know of a good space shooter for the PC?
Mainly looking for huge amount of power ups, insanly large and flashy weapons, good music.
Also for some strange reason I find the vertical scrollers much better then the horizontal.

Anyhelp is greatly apreciated.

Well.. the question is.. do you want the game to be a vast empty space, (like Freelancer) or just old school shooter?

I am thinking in of an old school shooter.
Freelancer was fun but I want to experiance the old school days of classical arcade shooters, but with a new age twist (massive graphical weapons and good high paced tunes)

Too bad they didn't remake R-type for the PC, although it's a Horizontal shooter, it has all that you'd want.

Not to mention the remake of Gradius and Contra..... Unfortunately on PS2 only AFAIK.

Well I have R-Type Delta for the PS, which is nice but I want something more old school than that.
