Hi! There's a Compaq PC with Win ME installed which used to be running just fine until it crashed and for some reason the mouse driver got screwed and stopped working(yellow exclamation under device manager) so I removed it hoping it would reinstall itself and it did! But the problem is that now the scroll button isn't behaving correctly! Whenever you scroll up or down it goes too fast! actually, it skips by page or goes directly to the end, even if there are several screens to scroll down! I tried removing it again, installing another driver and nothing works! How do I fix it??? Pls help! Thanks!
As Bill said, check your configuration of the mouse, maybe your configurations that you were used to (such as scrolling slower) changed back to default when you deleted and it reinstalled the driver.
There is no adjustable setting for scrolling speed!!! Unless it's hidden somewhere unsual! I've already tried looking in Control Panel . Is there a independent software/tool that could control that?
To help you understand what configuration window you have to go to I attached a file to this post. The only thing is that this computer is with Windows XP in Portuguese but its practically the same. Go to the Control Panel - Mouse - Scroll and you will find this window. HTH's
Been there! There's no scrolling/wheel tab to go to and adjust it! Maybe it's the driver that doesn't suppot it or something! Thanks for the help anyway, Dan! By the way, portuguese is my first language!
