Keep getting this error trying to format my drive? How do I get around this?

Actually this is for a friend, I usually just change the BIOS setting to boot from CD-ROM.

Im just curious, do temp setup files stay on teh drive if you pop the xp cd in while in windows and you try to re install?

Perhaps you can use the Recovery Console to format the drive.

Description of the Windows Recovery Console

and

Use the Recovery Console to Format a Hard Disk

These are for W2K but will work with XP.
