How do you remove applets form the panel in KDE?

ok i clicked on add an applet in mandrake and it wasnt the one i wanted but now i cant get it off. Its this stupid smiley face. if i right click on the panel and go to add>applets then i see it greyed in with a checkmark next to it. I tried clicking it again to see if it would go away but it didnt since it was grey. can someone help me please?

There will be 2 little bars next to it, right click and select remove.
