LCD Monitor purchase

I am looking at the Viewsonic VP191b. It seems quite nice.

Is there any real difference between LCDs these days? If so, which would be the best one to get at 19"? Thanks.

I am going to get a new LCD this week...... So any help is appreciated

Thanks for the quick response. those two reviews are pretty different. I did notice that Cnet rated it apparently on the price to value scale, where the cheap-lcd review was more along the lines of performance without regard to price.

I am not concerned with price at all, so long as it stays under $850

So, what I am really looking for is someone smarter than I am in the area of LCD's to tell me what their opinion or experience has been.

I don't have any desire to wait a couple months for the 20 inchers to come down, I am perfectly happy at 19.

Again, Thanks, Bill!

Way slow comapired to 17". Try finding a 16ms responce you can afford. THe larger 19" have better contrast ratio of course but less speed again cause of size. At 20ms it isnt bad. But some time you might get a little ghosting. Depends on speed of video.

I have looked. Is there one at 19 with 16ms?

I couldn't find one. Even the Dell 1901 has 25ms....

I would love to get one that size and spec.....

A big difference between lcd monitors that can't be found in the specs is the ghosting, before you buy s monitor be sure to read a few reviews, from the ones I've seen NEC monitor are the best.

Ghosting is a dierect result of low responce speed. 16ms WILL NOT ghost. 25ms will at times. 20ms a step better, little mroe rair to see ghosting. Samsung, NEC and sharp make the actaul LCD tft active matrix not just slap it into the frame like other co's. CTX, Dell, Gateway, Apple, Sony etc. they all use other co's panels and controlers they just assemble and rebadge it liek the cdrom co's do.

I use a 19" Samsung 191T-PLUS and ive yet to experience ghosting at 25ms but im only a casual gamer---works perfect for me approx $600 at Newegg

19" Samsung 193P is now newer and has a 20ms response if you need it, itl cost just a few bucks more...
