notepad hack

When saving a file in notepad it gives two options for the file types:

Text (.txt) - Default

or

All files (type your own extension)

Does anybody know of a registry hack or similar to change the default to "All files". I use notepad all the time but almost never write a .txt file. It's being picky I know, but there has to be a way

Not quite what you're asking for but it's how I fixed the problem:

http://turbopad.sourceforge.net/

I think Nano has more features than Windows Notepad..

Man you're fast. I have downloaded turbopad and will give it an honest effort. So far it looks very nice. I'm still going to try to find out how to change notepad. Even if I give up using it, it's still fun to know how to hack it

Well if you find a text editor you like better that's free and stable let me know.

I just can't go back to notepad - it's too limited.

I don't use windows anymore.....but the only thing i miss at all..... was NoteTabPro www.notetab.com best text editor I've ever used in Windows. One of the only pieces of Windows software i ever bought online.......was worth EVERY penny.

I like notetab because of it's "programmable" clipbooks.

With it you can say..... create a template HTML page and then save as a clipbook... with coding to ASK for input for the NEW page it creates when clicking...

AWESOME for ebay.... just make a default page...save as a clipbook... and have it ASK for description/price/quanity WHATEVER. And when your done, presto.... it spits out your HTML for ebay .... that was AWESOME.

In Linux I use Bluefish, but I still miss the clipbook feature once in awhile, but I can create pages fast many other ways with linux, just NoteTabPro was / is REALLY slick

Put in another vote for metapad that OuTPaTienT suggested.

For coding in windows SciTE is a great editor (free) that is very useful
