Help!, im using a sata seagate 80gb hd and its making a weird noise, like its hittin somethin kinda but like a slight scratch noise sounds like somethin is rubbin and I think its coming from the harddrive, im using it right now and i can hear the drive is only 3 months old, any help please?

i would say first of all, back up any important data in case its going to crap out on you....

noises like that can not be good when talking about a spinning disk...

not to be obvious but one get your data off...

2 are you sure its the HD i had a very noise computer thought it was the HD but it was a fan... hahaha on me but i did get a new HD out of it

yeah thats what it sounds like but why would this happen its brand spankin new :/

Nvm it was the fan! lol there was type of string on the front intake and it was making it click sort of

For the record new drives can be bad out of the box just like anything else you may buy.

Yeah, I was gettin worried for a sec for the fact that I didnt troubleshoot to begin with but you learn from your mistakes before making assumptions, and yes jaman I have heard of that happening also but its true to just like anything else you buy
