You do not need, nor is it recommended, to run more than one antivirus program, or more than one firewall program. Read the literature from any of the AV programs... none of them recommend running more than one. I know NAV includes a very good mail AV scanning program, and Zona Alarm Pro offers "Mail Safe" to quarantine mail attachments.
Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot are not run as services, but as applications, and you would not run them at the same time, so no problem.
Here's what I run on all three PCs in my home network:
NAV2003, patches and defs up-to-date (incl mail scanner)
Zone Alarm Pro v4.5.538.001 (incl a pop-up blocker and mail attachment quarantine)
Spam-Pal v1.53 (freeware)
Ad-Aware 6.0 Personal ed. (freeware)
Spy-Bot Search-and-Destroy v1.2 (freeware)
All three PCs sit behind a Linksys BEFSR41 router, which provides NAT
Finally, I always install all the latest WinXP security patches as soon as they become available.
