Is there a way to make sure Spybot is scanning the right partition on my HDD? I have Win XP Home installed on D and just some files and music on the C drive. I get the feeling Spybot may just be searching C and not D. I have looked at the settings but can't find anything.

I think Spybot automatically searches the registry and all hard drives by default.

Yes, unlike Ad-Aware that has the option to configure where to scan Spybot scans EVERYTHING. And this is a good thing if you use two hard drives. If you notice though that you still have major spyware in your computer it may have not scaned the other hard drive. If so then download Ad-Aware and use both.

Spybot never seems to find anything. I guess I should be happy.

That depends. If you still see programs that are considered spyware (such as BonziBuddy and CommonName) If you do Spybot isnt working as it should. Try downloading Ad-Aware (its free for the personal edition) and see if it finds somethings. If it does SPybot isnt working properly.

Ad-Aware does have real time prodection, and its even better than Spybot's. The thing is Ad-Aware with Ad-Watch (real time protection feature in Ad-Aware) is not free. The free version does not support Ad-Watch. Spybot's real time protection isnt one to be confident on. Its not as great as it may sound.

I do run Ad-Aware after I run Spy Bot and it is not finding anything either except for some tracking cookies.

Then you are completely safe, and your computer is without any spyware. And that is a great thing. You should be happy now and not worried By the way tracking cookies arent really that harmful, and Ad-Aware will always find many of them if you surf alot, unlike Spybot who doesnt find these files.
