Kids Photoshop / Network Problems???

Lately my school has been having trouble with large photoshop files saved onto personal Network drives. The problem is that when you try to open the PSD file you get an error near the end saying Unexpected End of File Error and it closes. This only seems to happen on PSD files that are 3MB and larger. The preview option shows the photo just fine but we cant get them to open. Do you know of anyway to recover the file? I’ve tried opening the files in Photoshop 6~7 and in Adobe Image Ready. Maybe its just a problem with Novell? Thanks for your time.

Do they open correctly when you copy one from the network drive to the local drive?

If you're really desparate you might be able to view the psd files with another application and then save them in another format, like png. I know ThumbsPlus and Irfanview will both view psd files.

Downside is you'll lose all your layer information and you'll only be able to view what was visible in the psd file, any hidden layers will not be seen.

Ill have to try that... sadly the project the class is currently working on is Layering and effect... but they are ready to present them so not actually having the layers wont matter unless they were not done.
