Wide screen output with Radeon card?

We have a Pioneer 502, 50 inch plasma display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. I have one computer running it with a Radeon AIW 8500 and it seems to look ok once you tweak the settings a little bit to account for the aspect ratio. Some of the other computers had special wide-screen video cards installed to be able to use the plasma display. My question is: Do all the newer cards like the ATI Radeon 9600Pro have the ability to handle the wide-screen aspect ratio with their native drivers or do they need special drivers?

I'm not sure what you mean by "native" drivers.

Anyway, available resolutions is really a function of the drivers for the display and DirectDraw. As long as you choose a resolution/refresh rate within the hardware capabilities of your card, you should have no issues.

Aspect ratio has nothing to do with native res. Just set under monitors tab to 16:9 ratio wide screen. Yes all newer radeons can do HDTV wide screen.
