need id on something

An old email account of my had emailed a friend of mine (I have not used this account for over 6 months).

an email from me that contains a zipped file titled ytkveir.scr...


I did a google and nothing came up..

any ideas..

I am contacting my old email provider now..

If you think that, I hope you're not responsible for too many systems.

Many viruses come as .scr files. An .scr file will run code on your system in a heartbeat.

Vagabond, don't worry about that email. It most likely did not come from your old email address. Your old addy was spoofed in there by a virus message sent from some infected machine that just happen to have your old addy stored on it. If you look at the header of that email, you'll see the real "From" address. I've received infected email from myself, and I know I never sent any such thing. Next time you see one of these, check the message header.

Nah, only 35+ military systems that I built myself and

(EDIT: Sorry, damn machine rebooted on me...POS! )

I got a virus that infected 150+ of my files...it came from a female "friend" and it was titled "menaked.mpg"...hey, I was all clickety click click!

Nah, just a sys admin that's seen way too many of these in the quarantine files of his mail server.

I heard all about it in the news. Pretty scary. The *.scr format known heavy bytes and it'll make a person curious to open it and see whats inside.

When I learned you could boot to a command prompt by running a screensaver I thought scr's can be a dangerous thing.
