Help! Dell Inspiron 4000 Laptop!

Hello all, i have a major problem with my Dell Inspiron 4000 Laptop. I recently bought is used at a pawn shop. I got home and was playing with it checking it out and it works fine. But i noticed the back was getting really hott! So i looked on the bottom and the fan was not moving!? Does anyone know why? Or how to fix this problem? Is it safe to run with out it on? Please respon a.s.a.p Thanks For any help!

If it were safe to run without it, it probably wouldn't be there in the first place. So in a word, "no" its not safe.

I know newer Dell's, the fans are easily removed by unscrewing two or so screws, and you can have dell send you replacement fan(s). I don't think its quite as easy with the older ones though. Those usually had to go back to Dell for replacement.
