dvd rom & dvd r/rw setup

on my intel d875pbz mobo.
if 2 hard drives are on SATA plugs, is it ok to hook the dvd rom
(master) & dvd/cd r-rw (slave) into the primary ide spot on the
mobo.
The dvd rom install book says the primary is typically for the
hard drive unless the dvd is set as the master, in which it is as
a master to the dvd r/rw.

switching gears, also, is it ok on my soundcard (audigy 2
zs platinum) to plug in only the digitalaudio cable from the
master dvd rom to the soundcard or should i also hook an analog from the slave dvd r/rw.

Hope i don't get on the forums nerves . i know i've prob asked som funky questions before this post

Thanks anyway

DVD Roms (and DVD burners more then) like to be the master of any IDE you plug it into.. so if you have 2 IDE plugs in's on your motherboard I would put the first one as master on your primary IDE and the other one as the master on your secondary IDE.

Thanks sixpack. i'll do it that way. What about the audio cable that runs to the sound card

Still need to substitute the Ad_Ext cable on the soundblaster
audigy 2 zs plat. it looks like an ide ribbon cable with some of the female end plugged. I jus wonder if a normale ide cable will work. I guess they had it plugged for a reason
