Problem with Neverwinter Nights

Ok I'm not a gamer but a fellow I know called me up with this and I told him I'd try to find out.

When he starts it up it terminates with a Runtime Error. He didn't have the exact error message but said he would get it for me.

System specs;

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.11 Ghz, 512MB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX

XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 1

Video card drivers are Version 5.2.1.6 dated 10/06/2003

And he has directx 9

Any ideas?

Why dx9 on a hardware dx7 card? Xp comes with 8, Id leave it at that unless a specific game requieres 9 in his case. The only thing dx in NWN is the sound engine. The video is 100% OpenGL. Try adjusting the GL options down. That game is gonna really STUTTER with a G2. My Geforce 3 original had a time of it at a descent resolution. IT was 800x600 or bust! On G2 I cant see more then 640x480 working. Oh and its native 32bit color so it kinda screws ya theere power wise too on a low MB card like that.

Have you tried running the game at different texture settings ? Or you can try it with no sound.

Also when does the game crash as soon as you start it or when you actually start playing?
