Change .shs file extension .wav

Hi all...

A client has given me a Word 2003 doc with .wav files that he recorded and embedded inside it. In order to get those .wav files out of the Word doc, (which need to be edited in SoundForge), I was told to copy the audio link in the Word doc (right click on the speaker icon and select 'copy'), and paste it into a folder.

So I did that.

In the folder, the file appears as 'scrap' with no extension (and yes, I do have the feature turned on to show extensions for all files). If I change the name and give it the extension of .wav...so that it reads as audio.wav...it will play in the Windows sound recorder. However, if I try to open it in SoundForge, it can't recognize it...and the file has the extension now of audio.wav.shs. Viewing the files, I can't see the .shs extension, only the .wav. How do I change it and get rid of the 2nd extension of .shs? Is there a utility I need? I have about 40 of these files now...

Thank you all!

Nevermind...I answered my own question...you have to change it in the registry so that the extension is no longer hidden. However, a scrap file is an OLE object that is useless unless embedded within Word or Excel...
