Microadvantage SuperDrive DVDRW 8X

I have installed a Microadvantage Super Dreive (DVDRW IDE1008) to my IBM computer.

I am unable to play movies DVDs, or audio CD-ROMs because of an "Error Code" 89020003 in PowerDVD for "The DVD disc might have been damaged so as to inhibit playback operation." or an error code that says my CD-ROM disc need to be cleaned. Even the newly out of the box DVD movies or CD-audios did not work when that happened. I can play all these "damaged" "unclean" discs very well on any other drives or players I have. Is the sensitivity for the Superdrive set too high to even play new DVD or CD-ROM discs? Is there anything I can do to resolve that and to be able to play DVD's and CD-audios?

Thanks for the heads up. It could be that the "ignore error” is off. I do not know how to correct that in PowerDVD XP, though? Can anyone help me with this, please?

The problem I have is a little different from theirs. When I insert a disc to run in the DVDRW drive, be it PowerDVD or Media Player, I was literally prevented from playing the disc because an error of "unclean", "damaged", or "scratched" disc (which play perfectly on any other drives or DVD player). I am not even trying to back up or copy anything. Copy protection should not kick in. The drive just seemed not to be working.

I can read and burn files to CD-R, and CD-RW discs using the DVDRW drive, in that respect the drive is not "bad". It is just too critical of the quality of DVD or CD-ROM discs.

And also DVD-RW writes well. I have not tried DVD-R or DVD+R yet.

Microadvantage Tech Support suggested that I try taking off another drive on the same cable. I'll have to try that soon.

GOOD NEWS. IT WORKED!!!

Thanks to all for helping.
