Best Antivirus Program These Days
Have been using AVG Antivirus FREE Edition and I have some cash I want to spend in a Antivirus program with nice features. AVG Antivirus is great for people that dont want to spend money on a Antivirus software, but it lack in features. Which Antivirus program is the best today? Is it still Norton Antivirus? Or is it something like Kaspersky or F-Secure? I would love to try out another Antivirus software that isnt from Symantec of Mcafee. Nod32 is too complicated to me, so that one is out of the question (although its an excellent Antivirus). Panda Antivirus maybe? Whats do you think? Help needed to decide.

AVG free edition or Pro, Zone Alarm pro and a D-Link router is all you'll need.
Cheers!

I would say Norton AV Corporate Edition...
BUt I'm not sure you can buy that for home use.
Norton has always served me well..

What I have is a D-Link Router with a Hardware Firewall. Zone Alarm Free Edition, and I had AVG Antivirus FREE Edition. From this review here I got scared by AVG and thought of changing Antivirus program. Since I installed AVG Antivirus I have seen performance decreases in the system and I think it could be ebcause of AVG, since this review mensions that.

Norton Antivitus Corporate Edition is ONLY for business use and you can not buy it for a Home computer unfortunately. Also it doesnt come in one licence, or two, the minimum of licences available is 5 because this Antivirus is for business companies. This means it would get really expensive for a normal Home user. So that is not an option for me Dropp.

| This site has great reviews of some of the Antivirus programs there are available today in the market. I have read few of them, and they give excellent scores for Kaspersky, and I think I will give that Antivirus program a try, looks great. There are more programs recommended, but this one seems to be ahead the others in score. Never tried it though, but I have heard its an excellent software.

i would say try Kapersky....it is indeed an excellent AV.
i would also note that there are inaccuracies in the avg review in the link. the free version of their anitvirus is updated MORE than once a month. in fact, it is daily, etc in accordance with the emergence of new viruses, much like norton, etc. there have been times when i've gotten updates on 3 consecutive days when new viruses where released on the web. the article also says that avg has no tray icon(?) making it idiffcult to tell if it is running.
well, the reviewer must have been blind then, because the avg icon is always displayed and the icon color shown is dependent on the level of protection the user sets.
symantec's AV is very popular esp with corporations because of its network management features, but personally, i don't think very highly of their product. i've gotten some false positives with it and the client is a resource hog & the scanning engine is slow.

Yes, I saw those flaws in his review too, but the test results concern me. Even if you see the tray icon, or it updates daily, its a poor scanner considering the test results. Its not a great Antivirus program considering the results in total, and thats why I am trying another Antivirus for the moment.

Downloaded Kaspersky Pro and I am using it right now. This is IMO the best Antivirus program I have used. Small in size, doesnt use a huge amount of memory from your system (like Norton for example) doesnt slow down the machine, finds most of the viruses around, etc. I would definetely buy this product after the trial expires.
