which ati card would be the best one to buy if i wanted to play doom3.

If money was no worry then a 9800 XT which are like $400 would be the best.

no the 9800xt...there is a sticky thread with benchmarks though but it all will depend on your budget...I myself would rather get a better motherboard and cpu than a better video card if I had the money

also nvidia and ati are realeasing their new lines probobally around the same time as doom 3 so thats something to think about

Fire GL cards are built for 3D work and cost a hack of a lot more than its consumer priced brother. The price isnt going to blow you away in frame rates or anything, stick with consumer cards.

my friend just brought a gigabyte radeon 7000 with 64mb on it. my question is can u trust gigabyte is it a reliable company?

yes of course gigabyte has been around for a while and they are my choice brand for motherboards and the video cards are gread too

radeon 7000 might be a little weak though but it will be fine if you are not playing really new games

Unless I'm mistaken, Doom 3 is OpenGL. With OpenGL games, nVidia cards are better.
