is it bad to use crossover cables in home networking? If it is bad y? And whats the difference between normal wiring and doing a crossover?

if your router supports crossover, it's ok, but most have autodetect built in or a uplink port so there would be no need for a crossover at all in a home system

Neither is better or worse than the other, you just use one or the other depending on the situation.
The difference is simply that one end of the cable has the sending and receiving pairs switched.

If you had two switches with uplink ports you would connect them from uplink port to regular port with a strait cable.
The same switches can be connected with a crossover cable from regular port to regular port.

Connecting two computers directly together needs a crossover cable also.
