Alternative to using an IFRAME....suggestions?

Are there valid alternatives to using an IFRAME in my site? Im using CSS instead of intricate table designs for the layout and I would like the content pane (obviously holds the different pages) to change depending upon what is clicked in the navigation bar.

I know there is the OBJECT tag and the IFRAME tag but are there "better" options? Is the OBJECT tag somewhat better than IFRAME? Just wondering what would be the best. Also, if I end up using IFRAME or OBJECT, is there a way to hide the scroll bar until it is necessary? (probably done with CSS code right? ie "overflow: auto;")

you could use SSI includes...

or use asp or php to call other pages within the main page.

I dont think my school or earthlink sites support those (earthlink would charge me extra).

does SSI require something running on the server side?

Yes, SSI stands for Server Side Includes. I believe then you would use .shtml files along with something running on the server. I haven't really used them, so my knowledge is limited.

For an example of IFRAMEs and their possibilites, go to these two sites that I made:

Hmm...IFRAME is the best bet at this point then Guess that school provided version of Win2k3 Server will come in handy now!
