Modding bezel faceplates on a Samsung SM-352

Is it easy to remove bezel plates on any type of CD or DVD ROM internal drive? Does opening a few screws to get to the tray all it take?

Since Samsung does not manufacture a black, SM-352 with an 8MB buffer, I was going to buy a beige one that does along with the black 2MB one. Then I could switch them so I can have a black bezel, 8MB buffer Samsung SM-352.

Sounds picky doesn't it?

You shouldn't have to open it up at all. Just push in a few tabs and the bezel should pop right off.

On my Plextor, you just open up the tray and snap off the face plate just like the bezel.

OK, at least the plate is easy to get off. But the tray shouldn't be too difficult as long as I remove the proper screws of course?

you could just buy the beige one and just use vinyl dye on it to make it black... save you a couple of bucks...

Yeah, it would have been cheaper to just buy some vinyl dye but I wanted to keep the Samsung logos intact.

Anyway, I bought both models the other day. Changing the bezel and tray is not that hard if you know what you're doing. It took me half an hour to figure out I needed the tray open in order to remove the case.

After tearing up my hands I finally got the trays out and exchanged them. It was well worth the the effort because now I'm the only one with this model in black bezel form.
