Asus A7V266-C

Hi Everyone

Havin some trouble trying to get this thing going. I purchased an Asus A7V266-C with a XP 2000. I installed the cpu and heat sink. powered up machine and the fan turned at a good speed then i recieved 4 long beep codes. powered down, installed 1 stick of 128 ddr pc2100 ram, and a GeForce2 MX 400 vid card. powered back up and nothin............ no cpu fan.......... no beep codes...... removed the ram and vid card and still nothin.......... i reset the cmos........... nothin............... i tried the fan in another unit and it works fine........... so what the heck? did i fry the board? did i fry the cpu? not sure.......... all jumpers are on default settings........this board has the thermal sensor which is enabled by default............ there is no thermal pad that came with cpu or heatsink but there was a grey thermal paste. the paste was all in a ball though and i tried to spread it out evenly on the heatsink. does anyone know what i could try next. do i need to get a thermal pad? will the thermal sensor shut down the power if it detects any errors and if so............ do i need to reset something?

Any ideas or suggestions would be of great help.
Thanks in advance.

That motherboard has an Award bios. I couldn't find anything on 4 LONG beeps but if it was 4 SHORT beeps then your problem could be a bad timer. The system timer failed to work properly. It will require motherboard replacement.
