I just installed an ati 9600. I have BF1942 and was able to play until I dl'd the newest patch, now whenever I start the game, the monitor turns black and says "VGA mode not supported" im guessing that its trying to open it in 600x480 since the monitor cant handle that. Anyone else having this problem or know what to do to fix it?

Did you get the newest drivers for the card?

Also, I think BF opens at 800x600 default.

Maybe try going somewhere else to download the patch.

Nick,

I take it you're referring to the 1.6 patch. I have a 9800 Pro, and while playing the Desert Combat mod, it acts a little buggy: my monitor reports no signal momentarily during the spawn point selection screen.

I'm running the Catalyst 3.7 driver, which one are you on? I backed away from the latest (4.2, I think), because of what people have been reporting about it, and how 3.7 was the most stable of all.

Its the default refresh rate. Lower it to 60 for the into then it'll launch. Stupid intro wont go-game wont launch. Remember EA only testing with Nvidia now. Send them a thank you email for taking your money but giving no REAL support!

IJ've tried everything else that I can think of, Do you know where I can find the 3.7 driver? This game is giving me such a headache! Any other ideas?

Did you try setting refresh to 60hz? Just humour me once. Is it a lcd mon hooked up through dvi-? There is a "KNOWN" bug with ATI cards and the new 1.6patch. Just google it once. You'll see Im not making it up. EA is up Nvidia's butt to far to smell trouble coming!
