Topic: Error installing WinDVD 5

Hi: I wonder if anyone can help me, I am having a problem installing WinDVD 5. Once it start the process of install, in a very short space of time I get the message: 'Error Message, 0x80040707: Description: Dll function call crashed:isrt.vergetfileversion, setup will terminate'.

Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks

I found http://www.ucap.biz/Manuals/Error_Me...ll_functio.htm ,which recommends installing a new windows installer version. I linked to the Windows 95, 98, and Me version.

but regrettably, for me, that solution doesn't work in my particular case.

It would appear that that error notice applies to a variety of similar, but different causes to the problem.

Nevertheless, I am open to any other offers/suggestions of help!

Try a google search with just "0x80040707" and try some of the solutions offered for other installation problems. One of them might work for you as well.
