Creating different file type?

How do you creat a file with a different extension? I need to create a .log file, but how would i do this?

When you go to save your file, put quotation marks around the file name.

E.G.
"mylog.log"

Use notepad.exe to create the file, and just save with a '.log' extension rather than '.txt'

This isn't working, it just saves it as a text file.

When i click on properties, it just says text document.

When you save you have 2 boxes. make sure the second box The "save as type" box says "all files".

I do that, but when i click on properties it still says text file....but i guess it is a log?

it is logged as txt. but it is log
