Kids fresh install questions

I'll be installing a w/d raptor 36.7gig @ 10k rpms and a maxtor
120 gig sata @ 7200 rpm.
question is, do i use both of the sata cables even tho i'm not going to configure a raid set-up?

Also i have a lite-on 16x dvd rom and a lite-on 8x dvd-r/rw,cd-r/rw
, should i configure the dvd rom as the master nd the dvd-r/rw
as the slave.

Thanks, i'm attempting my 1st assembly.

oh yea, i got oem versions of the hard drives. should i load a driver for them from this computer for the install. thay cam with
NO discs.

You will need to use one SATA cable per hard drive.

The drivers for the hard drives will be loaded when you load the chipset drivers for the motherboard. The chipset drivers should be on the disk that came with your motherboard.

do others agree the dvd/cd-rw should be the master. do i need to hook a jumper from the master to the slave

is there a need for a master/slave set-up on the hard drive is there?

If you are going to RIP, your CD ROM should be on a seperate channel from the burner, I don't think master or slave matters.
If your 2 SATA HDs are a RAID they are both masters, if just 2 drives one is master, the other is a slave.

I don't think SATA has jumpers, it's been a while since I built my rig.

RIP is when you copy directly from CD to CD without copying to HD first.
It is just quicker if you do a lot of copying.
